A Conversation with Dave Cohen

Dave Cohen shares unbelievable stories from his 40-year broadcasting career.

About Dave Cohen

Dave Cohen's career has taken him from sportscasting - both studio anchoring and play-by-play - to voiceovers to acting in motion pictures and television.

Raised in Brooklyn, New York, Cohen was one of the first play-by-play announcers for ESPN when it started in 1979. He is best known as the voice of the New York Yankees, doing play-by-play on the MSG Network.

He won an Emmy Award in 1996 for his description of a Dwight Gooden no-hitter. Cohen has also portrayed a sports anchor on One Tree Hill and a news reporter in the Oprah Winfrey-produced Amy & Isabelle. Recently Cohen was featured as the play-by-play voice in the climactic championship game of Glory Road.

Cohen has done several on-camera/voiceover promos for TLC shows Trading Spaces, What Not to Wear and While You Were Out. He's also been a promo voice of CNN and NASCAR.

He was one of the first play-by-play men on ESPN back in 1979 and can be seen on ESPN. His anchor/host roles have been with WABC-TV; WSYR-TV, WIXT, WSYT and FOX Sports South.

At the podium, Cohen is a natural storyteller - from his early career on AM radio to today, from getting Bob Costas his first professional job to working with some of the biggest names in broadcasting. He can also give great advice to those looking to break into sportscasting.

Cohen is active in the Jewish community and is a popular speaker for Jewish groups.

Cohen can also serve as a skillful moderator for panel discussions.
